Big Woods Nature Trail
Photo-of-the-Month
For May 2025 is by
Amy Teague
of Colmesneil

Big Woods Photo-of-Month April

Amy Teague of Colmesneil submitted the winning Big Woods Nature Trail Photo-of-the-Month for May. She captured the Southern Sugar Maple's leaves shortly after one of our many rains this year. Amy shared that "the green you see now will become beautiful fall foliage, with leaves turning vibrant shades of red, yellow and orange. This photo reminds me of the Maple tree my dad had in the backyard that I used to climb when I was a kid."

The Big Woods Nature Trail is across the parking lot from the Pickett House at Heritage Village. Thirty native Texas trees have identification signs -- including a Maple tree. Take time to view the native trees as you walk the shaded trails -- and submit your photo to next month's contest.
